A PRIMARY school pupil raised more than £500 for charity by getting his head shaved.

Toby Runyard, nine, right, who is in Year 4 at Amesbury Primary School, went under the razor because he wanted to do something for Father Simon Wilkinson’s chosen charity, supporting the Sudan.

Father Wilkinson was the school vicar until recently, but retired after he was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

The news really affected the pupils and Toby decided he wanted to show his support.

Most of the school crowded out into the playground to watch Marie from Spirit Hairdressing shave off Toby’s locks and he raised £560.

His mother Abby said: “He was completely amazed. He thought he would get to £100 but everyone was really generous. Thank you to everyone who sponsored him.”
