A BANK manager from Salisbury has been selected to front a new national TV advert for the Barclays ‘You Said We Did’ campaign.

Andy James, who works for Barclays in High Street, Salisbury, was chosen from thousands of business managers.

Mr James said: “It’s the first time I’ve been involved in anything like this and, although it was a bit daunting at first, it was great fun.”

The advert tells the story of how firms have been helped by the local business lending clinic.

Barclays local business clinics offer free help to small companies and are open to anyone to attend with events running across the UK.

Mr James added: “I’m going to try and enjoy my moment on national TV, but I think I’ll stick to the day job.”

Remember, though, that this can be a poisoned chalice. Think of Howard Brown, the singing star of the Halifax commercials: he got the sack in 2011. In banking, the "day job" might well be just that, and disappear without advance notice.

Barclays lending to help local business?

Must have been one hell of a struggle
to find any business that Barclays have actually helped,
without additional costs for the business and extra profits for the bankers!

Isn't this the chap who supplements his income buying from car boot sales to sell on?

Hardly the image that Barclays Bank Salisbury will be looking for in a National ad' campaign? Then again as a business manager, it does show some initiative.
