A NEW playground delighted the children of Mere School as they started a new school year.
The school received a legacy from long-time resident Merle Howard who said she had “a desire to promote the health, well being and physical development of the children at the school”.
Children and their parents had a say on how the new playground should look and local business Kingsmere Surfacing and Howell Landscaping turned their plans into a reality.
Headteacher Catriona Williamson said: “It is an amazing start to the new school year and the children have been so fortunate to have such amazing facilities to share with each other.”
To mark the opening of the new playground and welcome everyone back for the new school year, the school opened early on September 2 with milk and croissants donated by Mere Co-op as the children put their new play area to the test.
