THE local author of a children’s book has handed over a cheque for £1,000 to the Chalke Valley History Trust after his book became a best-seller.
England’s Story by Bryan Beggs covers the history of the country from Julius Caesar to the modern day and became a hit after being released at the Chalke Valley History Festival in June.
Mr Beggs said: “I hope this will be the first of many such events.
“The Chalke Valley History Festival committee invited me to launch my book at their festival, and since all my books are published to raise funds for various charities, the Chalke Valley History Trust seemed just the one to choose for the book’s first edition.”
