THERE were some high quality entries in the Harnham Garden Society summer show on Saturday.
Margaret Roper from the society said: “Although the number of entrants was slightly down, there was a pleasing number of entries and the judges commented on the high quality.
“More than 60 people attended the show and enjoyed tea and cakes supplied by the church ladies. MP John Glen presented the prizes and congratulated the children in particular on the inventiveness of their exhibits.”
The main winner was Heather Roberts, who won the Perpetual Challenge Cup for vegetable classes, the Harnham Cup for Best Exhibit in Show and the Banksian Medal for the largest total number of points in the horticultural classes.
William Roper won the Harold Ford Salver for Overall Effort and Carol Musselwhite won the Councillor Annetts Rose Bowl for Cookery for the second year.
