TWO infantry teams from the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and 1 Rifles visited students at Bishop Wordsworth’s School as part of an army recruitment event.

The sixth form students completed leadership tasks and listened to a presentation on the application process and financial packages on offer for future soldiers and officers.

School’s careers adviser Major Lizzie Bowman said she would be returning to the school to conduct individual interviews with the pupils who are considering joining the army.

She said: “There are already some pupils who have signed up to the Army Officer Scholarship Scheme and most of them will go onto secure a prestigious undergraduate bursary, which is aimed at undergraduates willing to commit to three years of service in the Army.”

The event was organised by the army recruiting office in Castle Street and took place last Wednesday.
