RADIOGRAPHERS at Salisbury District Hospital took delivery of the second CT scanner earlier this week – the result of a hugely successful campaign run by the Stars Appeal and the Salisbury Journal last year.

The arrival means that patients can now benefit from two state-of-the-art machines, the first new scanner having been delivered last month.

Thanks to the generosity of local people and organisations, the campaign’s initial target of £650,000 was exceeded in just nine months and permitted the hospital charity to not only purchase an additional scanner but also trade in the overworked original one for a new upgrade.

The more detailed imaging will enable doctors to diagnose a wide range of illnesses and injuries more quickly.
