A CHEF from Salisbury who has cooked for a host of showbiz stars is starting a pop-up restaurant in the city called Talk Eat Laugh.

Rachel Muse first turned to food after graduating with a degree in maths and finding no jobs on offer.

Retraining, she became a patisserie chef before taking up positions at busy hotels in Reading and Knightsbridge and a private household in London.

Over the years she has travelled around the world, preparing dishes for Formula 1 drivers, musicians, sportsmen and actors on private islands in the Caribbean and yachts in the Mediterranean.

Now 20 years after first training to become a chef, she has returned home to Salisbury and is involved with creating a fine dining experience either in an individual’s home or at St Thomas’s House in the city centre.

She said: “The aim is to provide interesting food that wouldn't be found on a restaurant menu.

“It’s been going really well so far and I’ve had several bookings for private dining and catering for events as an unexpected spin off.

“When people arrive, there are canapés and a glass of bubbly and then there’s fresh, interesting and delicious food around a big shared table alongside home-made brew and a selection of wines.

“Being a patisserie chef on top of being a chef, all roads lead to pudding so it’s important for guests to leave room for whatever sweet delights follow the main course.”

Seats are around £35 which includes all food and drink throughout the evening.
