THE Amesbury History Centre is calling on residents to show their support by becoming a Friend.

The Centre exists to tell the story of Amesbury, from its beginnings nearly 10,000 years ago to the present day, and to make this history more widely known.

By doing this it plays a part in promoting Amesbury, encouraging visitors and increasing the town’s prosperity.

The importance of Heritage and Archaeology for Amesbury has been recognised by their inclusion as one of the main themes for the Amesbury Neighbourhood Plan now being developed.

Membership forms for the Friends of Amesbury History Centre can be obtained in the Centre, Church Street, Amesbury, SP4 7EU, or by emailing amesburyhistorycentre@gmail.com.

Forms will also be available on the Amesbury History Centre stall at the Amesbury Carnival Saturday, June 6.

The centre has a selection of flint tools, bones and other artefacts from Blick Mead in addition to information about all periods of Amesbury’s history.

Opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 4pm. More information on their Facebook page.
