A SUSPECTED drug dealer has been arrested in Durrington.

Amesbury police stopped a white Vauxhall van for a minor traffic offence on June 10.

After searching the van and finding a large wad of cash, they arrested the driver, a 27-year-old Ludgershall man, who has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Officers are hunting a second man who ran off when the car was stopped.

Sergeant Tina Osborn of Amesbury Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) said: "We are keen to tackle drug dealing and cultivation using a proactive policing approach towards to help solve the problem.

"Therefore we are taking action using routine checks to flush out criminals who chose to operate in our area.

"As a result we have seen a number of drugs arrest recently, which will serve to reduce the amount crime locally.

"Most people won't ever have to come across drug criminality but we want to reduce the amount of drugs on the streets and reduce the number of young people coming into contact with them.

"This will be achieved by actions such as those taken on the 10 June and with assistance from members of the public."
