SALISBURY CITY Council invites residents and visitors to show their support to the past, present and future of our Armed Forces on Sunday 28 June at the annual Armed Forces Day Celebrations in the Market Place and Guildhall Square.

The event which is FREE for all the family will feature displays of army equipment as well as featuring forces charities and hosting free workshops for children. There will also be fair rides, street food, live music and much more.

This year the Salisbury Armed Forces Day will also feature the Freedom of the City Parade for the Royal Regiment of Artillery.

Last October Salisbury City Council was delighted to grant the Royal Regiment of Artillery the right, privilege and distinction of marching through the streets of the City of Salisbury on all ceremonial occasions with Colours Flying, Drums Beating, Bands Playing and Bayonets Fixed.

The Parade will set off from Central Car Park at 9.45am approximately and march into Blue Boar Row and halt, there the Freedom of the City will be granted by the Right Worshipful Mayor of the City of Salisbury. Following an inspection, the troops will then continue to march into Queen Street, New Canal, Silver Street, Minster Street back into Blue Boar Row, Queen Street, New Canal, Silver Street, Minster Street, and then marching out of the City via Castle Street. Crowds are encouraged to line the March route.

Armed Forces Day on the Square will commence at 11am and throughout the day there will be a static displays from local units of the Royal Artillery and other forces organisations including an AS 90 – 155mm self-propelled artillery gun, The Stormer HVM (High Velocity Missile) is a short-range air defence system, MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System), Watchkeeper Unmanned Air System and historical vehicles. On the main stage there will be performances from The Salisbury Band of the Royal British Legion, The Cadettes, The Royal Artillery Band and the Pipes and Drums of 19th Regiment Royal Artillery.
