FOUR cars were involved in smash in Amesbury on Saturday afternoon.
Police were called at 4.47pm on Saturday to the crash on Porton Road.
The road was completely blocked and was closed from Boscombe Down to Solstice Park.
The cars involved were a black Nissan Qashqai, a red Volkswagen Polo , a grey Vauxhall Insignia and a grey Toyota Auris.
A number of people were taken to Salisbury District Hospital but it is not believed anybody was seriously injured.
Eye witness John Noeken said: "It was total pandemonium.
"It just goes to show how busy and potentially dangerous that road is."
Conflicting reports from the ambulance service said three cars and a motorbike were involved.
They said there were six casualties, with the rider taken to hospital and the rest treated at the scene.
The Journal is seeking clarification from the emergency services.
