TWO vehicles were seized during a joint police operation.

Community beat manager Tim Bunt and PCSO Maria Downham were joined by PC Alex Collins from the Amesbury response team and PC Rachel Noble from Hampshire Constabulary for the operation which took place along the A342 by Faberstown, Ludgershall, on Monday.

Automatic number plate recognition technology was used to identify vehicles whose drivers were committing motoring offences or had been involved in crime.

In total, 27 vehicles were stopped and checked for motoring offences during the operation, and these ranged from no tax to no MOT, as well as other motoring offences.

PC Bunt said: “This was a successful operation conducted jointly with Hampshire Police with two vehicles seized.

“This operation is just one of many joint operations planned throughout the summer months as we look to crack down on illegal motorists within our county.”

He added: “Working in partnership with Hampshire Constabulary across the border has proven very positive. Only a few weeks ago, we stopped a vehicle in McDonalds just over the border and seized £1,000 worth of cannabis. Two men were arrested for possession with intent to supply. They remain on police bail while enquiries continue.

“This type of cross border work is ongoing and we are hopeful of more successful operations in the near future.”
