A SHOPLIFTER who made off with £100 worth of meat from Waitrose was caught this afternoon after being chased down by a member of the public.
The 35-year-old man was detained by the person - who was assisted by a security guard from the supermarket in Churchill Way West - until the police arrived.
It happened at around 2pm with the shoplifter being caught by the roundabout near the filling station at Waitrose.
The man was given a £90 Fixed Penalty Notice.
A Wiltshire Police spokesman said he was also advised that further action would be taken if anything similar happened again.
