MILLIONS of people watched a Salisbury 20-year-old singer at the weekend as he took centre stage performing on the X Factor.

Jamie Eldridge, who attended Bishop Wordsworth's School sang his version of the New Radicals' 'You Get What You Give at Wembley.

Although he was initially picked to be one of six in the boys category, which would have led to a place in the judges' houses stage - being mentored by the Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw - he was later replaced by another singer.

He said: "I loved every second from the auditions in April to the bootcamp in July and through to the performances.

"It was very surreal - it was filmed at the start of September and didn't really feel real and then seeing yourself on TV is a crazy feeling.

"I was the second to last person to be taken out - you have to be real and prepare yourself that you might lose, there was so much talent on the show.

"Being on stage was incredible - I was nervous but the judges are very good at putting you at ease and I really felt at home.

"I was so lucky to have had the opportunity. I have applied a couple of times before and nothing really happened.

"I've changed my style a lot recently from mainstream pop to a more rocky style because it suits my voice more, and felt this year was the one to go full on with it.

"It was an absolutely amazing experience - all the team were so lovely and it was a really great experience.

"Nick Grimshaw gave us a lot of support."

Jamie, who is also a songwriter and producer, is now focusing on releasing solo covers online and is also doing gigs with his band The Brittz.
