SCHOOLCHILDREN enjoyed an action packed visit to Salisbury Fire Station.

The visit last week was to help the Year 2 pupils at Wyndham Park Infants' School with their studies into the Great Fire of London.

They were able to find out more about modern day firefighting and were shown the different equipment used by firefighters. And the children also got the chance to try on firefighters uniforms and go in a fire engine.

The children were also able to see the fire hose in action and watch the sheer power of the water as it moved barriers out of the way.

Teacher Barry Ramsay said: "The fire team were great looking after all three classes and accommodating us. The kids really enjoyed the experience."

A member of the SERVE ON team, which is based at the fire station, drove one of the groups of children back to school to ensure they did not get soaked in the rain.
