RESIDENTS and Journal readers are being urged to come together tonight (Friday) for a fundraiser for Bemerton Lodge Day Centre to help its members celebrate the Queen's birthday.
The manager of the charity, Jenny Alger, says many of the members, aged from 67 to 102 years, depend on the Lodge as a safe place to meet, make strong friendships, fending off loneliness and ill health in the process.
The jumble sale, which starts at 6pm, hopes to raise enough funds to help members celebrate the Queen’s birthday from June 8, including a paid for street party, roast dinner and ‘The Land Girls’ entertainment.
Jenny said: "We just want to give elderly people a better life."
