VISITORS turned out in force to enjoy the street party atmosphere at the 2016 Fisherton Festival yesterday (Monday).

Organisers say the festival attracted about 8,500 visitors - surpassing the 7,000 that attended the inaugural event last year.

The main stage featured a number of local bands and cover acts including a Michael Buble tribute band.

The dance stage also proved popular on the day and visitors were also able to see an energetic display from a Chinese dragon.

There were a range of stalls to browse around with some serving up food from across the globe.

To add to the party atmosphere everyone was encouraged to turn up in fancy dress inspired by national dress or film and television.

Organiser Steve Dauwalder said: "It was an overwhelming success. We had lots of people put effort in and it combined for a great community event."

Problems flagged up at last year's event were addrsssed.

Mr Dauwalder says feedback from the public, organisations and authorities has been positive.

"People had more space to move around," he added.

He thanked everyone involved with the festival and said: "An event like this would not be possible without people helping."
