A high-speed car chase through the streets of Salisbury ended with two arrests after police used a "stinger" to bring the car to a halt last night.

At approximately 10:30PM, officers attempted to stop a green Peugeot 306 on the A345, but the driver repeatedly ignored them and continued at speed, driving the wrong way around a roundabout and running two red lights.

The vehicle was eventually brought to a halt at the top of Castle Road after a stinger was deployed.

Two men tried to run from the car but were quickly detained by officers.

Two 19 year old men from Salisbury have been arrested on suspicion of driving offences and the possession of an offensive weapon, namely a knuckleduster.

The men remain in Police custody at Melksham Police Station.

Wiltshire Police are appealing for more information on the incident.
