FIREFIGHTERS are saddling up to take part in a 100 mile cycle ride for charity at the end of the week.

Tom Brolan, the district commander for Amesbury, Ludgershall and Pewsey, who is also the station manager in Devizes, is part of a team of four who will be taking part in the Prudential Ride London 100 on Sunday.

Firefighters Mike Cleaver and Archie Webster, and crew manager Richard Lake, all from Devizes fire station, make up the team. They will also be joined by Mike’s brother-in-law Dan Scott

The challenge covers 100 miles between the capital and Surrey, using the road race route used during the last Olympics.

The team is raising money for the Epilepsy Society. A charity that has given Mike and his family a lot of support since daughter Poppy was diagnosed with the condition.

He said: “Dan, Archie and I were part of the ‘Magnificent Seven’ who completed the 24 hour cycle challenge around Wiltshire’s fire stations last year, and both Tom and Rich are also keen cyclists, so we thought this would be a fun way to raise some money for a charity that’s very close to my heart.”
