MORE than 100 people got into the party spirit at The Boot Inn at Tisbury as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations.

The pub held a 1940s tea dance and everyone dressed for the occasion on Sunday, August 14.

They were able to dance along to music provided by the St Johns Swingers.

Teas were provided by Quintessential Vintage Teas.

Ron and Ruth Turner are celebrating 40 years as licensees of the pub.

They said: “We wanted to thank all our friends and customers for their support over the years and also contribute to our chosen charity for the year Lucy’s Days Out.”

The pub is now approaching the £3,000 fundraising mark.

During the 1940s tea dance there was also a raffle and auction, with prizes donated by customers and local businesses.

Auction prizes included a tour in a Vintage Bentley, A Morning on The Gallops and a Three Night Winter Break.

Ruth and Ron said: “We want to say a huge thank you to our two sons James and Oliver, who have supported us over the years, and made The Boot the successful family business that it is, and without whom the running of The Boot would not be possible.”
