YOUNG musicians showcased their talents to raise vital funds to support future performers in Salisbury.

Life Rocks held a special evening of music at Salisbury Cathedral on Saturday, August 13, which raised about £1,500. But the final count is still to be completed.

The concert also celebrated the achievements of The School of Rock and musical talent the city has to offer as well as raising crucial funding for Life Rocks CIC.

Life Rocks CIC is a community interest company set up to allow all young people regardless of financial circumstances to access high quality music learning and performance opportunities.

Ross Sanderson, of Life Rocks said: "We've raised over our target for Life Rocks, so we've got more money going into charity, to get more young people like these, doing even more music in Salisbury.

"We've almost doubled the figures that we expected to raise in that auction, that's going straight into young people's education, so I'm absolutely over the moon."

LifeRocks CIC also provides funding to help give young people access to instruments and one-to-one lessons.

It will also be launching a programme for young adults which will help give them a voice to express their thoughts and the opportunity to make changes in how their needs are catered for.

The entertainment for the evening was provided by The Sound Emporium with performances from The School of Rock as well as bands and solo performers.

Ross added: "We'll have just a couple of weeks to calm down after all of the rehearsals and everything that went into this. There's quite a big team of us working on this behind the scenes, there's been about 10 of us.

"A massive thank you to them, they all had their roles and they were absolutely superb. Also, a big thank you to the young people who performed, they were absolutely phenomenal and our very generous sponsors without them we couldn't put on events like this. A big thank you has to go to Elite Care, The Labour Group, Rogers Building Services, Millers Motors and Basepoint business Centres"
