A tree that was ring-barked after a man attempted to illegally cut it down, has been treated.
The 40ft tree in Essex Square, Harnham suffered significant damage and there were fears that it would not survive.
Fortunately, a nearby resident came to its rescue.
Salisbury City Councillor Grahame Alexander paid Amelia Williams out of his own money to salvage the damage.
Mrs Williams applied special putty to the damaged parts, before covering them with a fabric sheet.
Cllr Alexander said: "I am very happy that Amelia has taken the time to tend to the tree, and I would like to thank her.
"It is a beautiful tree and the attack was mindless, I hope it doesn't happen again."
