A GROUP of Year 5 pupils from Salisbury have been singing their hearts out in a concert at the Royal Albert Hall this week.

The class of 30 from St Osmund's Catholic Primary School were given the opportunity to join around 38 other schools from the South of England, to take part in the Barnardo's Young Supporters' Concert on Monday.

The children had been learning ten special songs for the night, based around the production of Scrooge, along with some traditional songs including Little Donkey and The Holly and the Ivy.

It was a long day, with the coach leaving school at 7am, in order to make the day-long rehearsals at the prestigious London concert hall, not returning until nearly midnight.

Family and friends were able to buy tickets to the event which took place that evening.

The mass choir of schools was conducted by Susannah Edom-Baker, who works regularly with Barnardo's on their young supporters' concerts.

St Osmund's headteacher Richard Sanderson praised the pupils for their excellent behaviour on what must surely have been an incredibly exhausting day for them.

He said: "The children have doubtless gained a great deal from this event, which I am sure they will never forget.

"What a fabulous experience it was for them to perform at the Royal Albert Hall. One child went home and cried, saying that they couldn't find the words to describe how amazing it was."
