MORE than 1,500 young people will get the chance to learn about education, apprenticeships and career options, both locally and nationally.

Future Choices returns to the City Hall, Salisbury, on October 17, and young people aged between 15 to 18 will be bussed into the city from schools and colleges in the south Wiltshire region.

The event, backed by the Salisbury Journal, is being organised by career experts Sally Armstrong and Sue Glover and is set to attract up to 75 exhibitors from business and education.

Sally, an independent higher education and careers consultant, said: “We have already signed up investment bankers JP Morgan, financial services company James Hay and even Southampton Football Club along with many other businesses.

“The Army will be there and we anticipate many other major employers will be joining us.

“We also have sixth forms, colleges and universities on board, who will be able to advise on a whole host of education and apprenticeship pathways.”

Sue, Director of Career Solutions Wiltshire Ltd, said: “It is essential that young people are informed of all their options and Future Choices allows them to access these at a one stop shop.

“Invitations are already with local schools and we have had an excellent response.

“The event also has the backing of Salisbury Reds, Wiltshire Council and Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership, together with the Careers and Enterprise Company.

“We ran a very successful event in 2015, but costs prevented a return last year. Thanks to the support of The Salisbury and District Chamber of Commerce, Salisbury Reds and the Journal we are back on the road investing in our young people.”
