INVESTIGATIONS are under way after a fire involving two derelict buildings in Old Sarum.
The cause of the fire on Sunday afternoon is being treated as deliberate.
The fire service received a number of calls reporting the incident at Portway just before 4pm on Sunday.
A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two appliances from Salisbury were mobilised and upon arrival assistance was requested and a third appliance was mobilised from Amesbury.
"It was confirmed to be two derelict buildings well alight measuring 12m x 8m and 10m x 6m.
"The fire was extinguished using six breathing apparatus, two hose reels, two main jets and positive pressure ventilation."
Two fire crews from Salisbury and one from Amesbury attended the incident.
Residents were advised to close their windows and doors due to the smoke plume and possible asbestos burning.
Police were also at the scene and closed the road.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
