GATES to the Cathedral will be closed for a week while work is carried out on a nearby building.

The High Street Gate entrance to the Cathedral Close will be closed to all vehicles for a week from July 17.

Scaffolding is required as part of works on a nearby building and the gates will be closed to vehicles to ensure safety of the workers and the general public.

The gate will still be open to pedestrians and cyclists.

It will be closed from 7am on Monday, July 17 until July 21 when it is hoped the work requiring scaffolding will be completed, although this may be delayed.

During the closure period delivery vehicles and emergency vehicles will be given access through St Ann’s Gate.

Jackie Molnar, chapter clerk and chief executive said: “The Cathedral would like to thank everyone in advance for their understanding and patience.”
