PHOTOGRAPHERS up and down the county are being urged to dust off their lenses and tripods to be in with the chance of winning a DSLR camera.

VisitWiltshire is once again calling on photographers - both amateur and professional - to submit their finest photographs to be in with the chance of being named the finest view in all of Wiltshire.

Launched by VisitWiltshire with the backing of the Salisbury Journal and its sister titles, the popular annual competition will once again be accepting entries from today, and remain open runs right through the summer months until the end of September.

Photographers can send in up to eight photographs per calendar month – 32 photos in total – from June to September 2017, to arrive by midnight on the last day of each month.

Some of the entries put forward will even feature in the Swindon Advertiser throughout the contest before the winning shots are picked later in the year.

Only colour, digital photos will be accepted and all photographs must be submitted as jpeg or tiff attachments, minimum resolution 300dpi.

To be in with a chance of winning, your photos should capture the essence of life in Wiltshire, its people and landscape, and tie in with any of VisitWiltshire’s four ‘Timeless’ themes:

n Timeless Wonders: including Stonehenge, Avebury, Salisbury Cathedral, the Kennet & Avon Canal and Wiltshire’s White Horses

n Timeless Places: including market towns, villages and other attractions

n Timeless Pleasures: including shopping, food and drink, festivals and events, arts and entertainment

n Timeless Nature: including big skies, rolling hills, flora and fauna.

Jenny Butler, VisitWiltshire’s marketing manager, said: “We are very excited to be launching our 2017 Photo Competition this week – we are sure we’ll receive some lovely images over the coming months and can’t wait for them to start coming in.”

The first prize is a Nikon D3300 with 18-55 lens from Castle Cameras, and there will also be two runners up prizes of a £50 voucher each to spend at Castle Cameras’ shops.

“This year, entrants can send in up to eight images per calendar month from June to September, and as the summer gets properly underway there is sure to be plenty of inspiration for keen photographers all around the county – based on previous years’ experience we can expect the standard of entries to be very high, so we are in for a real treat!”
