THERE was a buzz in Salisbury on Friday as The Secret Garden celebrated the launch of its bee trail ahead of it going live later this month.

Invited guests came together to mark the occasion, including the mayor of Salisbury, Cllr John Lindley.

The trail is made up of a series of stop points around the city, which can be found on a map, where users can learn about different bee species.

Users can point their smartphones at the trail point signs to trigger an augmented reality(AR) bee image.

The special app has mini games designed to enhance people’s knowledge of the importance of wild bees and other pollinators. The free app also gives some bee ‘top tips’and images.

The app and the bee trail map will be available from July 29. Maps can be found at Salisbury Tourist Information Centre, Salisbury Art Centre, Five Rivers Leisure Centre, Fisherton Mill, Goodfayre and the library.

The bee trail is central to the Secret Garden Salisbury’s 2017 Bee City project.
