A MOTORCYCLIST sustained a dislocated shoulder, fractured ribs and fractured pelvis after trying to avoid a car driving on the wrong side of the road.

A 36-year-old man from Salisbury was riding a black and orange repsol Honda CBR 1000cc motorcycle along Crockford Road when he had to take evasive action to avoid a red car which was travelling on the wrong side of the road towards Grimstead Road.

As a result the motorcyclist came off his bike and sustained a dislocated shoulder, fractured ribs and fractured pelvis. He was taken to Salisbury District Hospital by ambulance for further treatment.

Police are today appealing for witnesses following the incident in which a driver failed to stop at the scene.

The incident happened at approximately 8.30pm on August 18.

The vehicle involved is described as a red estate car, possibly a Mercedes.
