AN afternoon of family festivities will take place to celebrate the launch of a public art programme in Amesbury.

The programme, as part of the Kings Gate housing development, has so far focused on people’s relationship to heritage landscapes around them.

In July 2017 Ginkgo Projects (working with Bloor Homes), supported by English Heritage, undertook walking and writing workshops in the landscape around Amesbury and Stonehenge, and workshops called ‘Loop in the Landscape’, producing original writing and poetry published in a book called Loop.

On September 23, Ginkgo will launch Loop at the Bowman Centre, between 2pm and 4pm.

The next stage of the art programme will also be announced.

People of all ages are invited to attend the launch for an afternoon of fun family activities and workshops including gardening activities, art and writing workshops with poetry readings performed by the students of Amesbury Archer Primary School.

All activities are free and accessible, and delicious food from a local vendor will be on sale.

Sophie Scott, Associate Director of Ginkgo Projects, said: ‘Loop represents the outcome of a fascinating series of workshops engaging with the landscape around Amesbury. It will be exciting to see how this work develops during the the art programme as it continues.’
