SENTIMENTAL items including a gold cigarette holder and an antique French clock have been stolen from the home of a man in his 80s.

The offence took place between 7pm and 9pm on November 9 in Broadchalke.

Some of the items stolen include:

A Pakistani silver bowl and plate

A large silver salver with the Cameronian Scottish Rifles Crest and the signatures of all officers of that regiment in about 1930.

Two smaller silver salvers A silver round box with Carey (a Swan) crest on it.

An 18-carat gold cigarette holder

Some small silver elephants and two large silver partridges

A medium sized Armada dish with IGN & AMN and dated 31 December 1960 engraved on it.

A silver Eagle presented by the Nigerian Army Staff College.

According to police other smaller items were also stolen in the burglary.

PC Damian Waldron said: “Some of these items stolen, although no doubt worth a lot of money, hold a lot of sentimental value for the victim and we are doing all we can to locate them.

“We would be really keen to hear from anyone who may have information regarding the whereabouts of these unique items, or anyone who may have seen or heard any suspicious behaviour at the address on the date the incident happened.”
