TIME is ticking for readers to nominate their local heroes in Salisbury, South Wiltshire and West Hampshire who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

The deadline for entries for the Salisbury Journal and Spire FM Local Hero Awards is December 3.

There are 11 categories, which include:

n Sports Achievement of the Year Award, sponsored by Nicholas and Harris

n Charity Fundraiser of the Year, sponsored by Wessex Drainage Solutions

n Parent or Guardian of the Year Award, sponsored by Northwood

n Lifesaver Award, sponsored by Unstuck Design

n Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Allum & Sidaway

n Child of Achievement Award, sponsored by Fire Rivers Childcare

Salisbury Journal publisher Bill Browne said: “We are getting so close now to the final deadline and we know for the entries we have seen already that this is going to be yet another close call for the judges.

“However, I would appeal once more to any of our readers who have a real hero in their life or in their circle of friends to let us know.

“There could be a wonderful moment in time awaiting someone from south Wiltshire.

“And you could be the person who helps them receive the recognition they deserve.”

The Local Hero Awards ceremony will take place on January 19.
