A SHOP worker and police officer were assaulted in Salisbury yesterday (Tuesday).
The incident happened at about 7.15pm at Tesco Extra in Bourne Way after staff challenged a woman for opening cosmetics.
A 28-year-old woman from the Warminster area was arrested on suspicion of common assault and assaulting an officer and was taken to Melksham custody where she remains.
Inspector Pete Sparrow said: “We are keen to speak to any witnesses to this frightening incident which left staff understandably shaken, though thankfully nobody was seriously injured.
“We will not tolerate abuse of this kind on officers or members of the public.”
