AN EMPTY van rolled across a road and crashed into a city centre coffee shop this morning after being parked without its handbrake on.

It happened just before 9.30am, when the vehicle hit the window of Pret A Manger in New Canal.

Witness Gemma Roberts said she was across the road from the cafe when she heard "a loud bang" and "panicked shouting" and when she looked up "the van was in the window".

Police believe the van was parked in the loading bay opposite without the handbrake on, and it crashed into the window after rolling across the road.

Nobody was in the vehicle at the time and nobody was injured.

Salisbury Journal:

New Canal is open as normal.

Managing director at Pret A Manger, Pano Christou said: "We can confirm there was an accident that involved the Pret shop in Salisbury this morning and thankfully no one was hurt. We are cooperating with the Police as they investigate this incident.”
