THE Race for Men saw a record turnout with entries up from last year.

The event on Sunday at Hudson’s Field saw nearly 400 people sign up. Runners could choose to take on the 3k, 10k and half-marathon races. Just over 330 runners finished on the day.

Race manager Ludo Macaulay said: “All in all, the day went really well. We had good running weather.

“It was buzzing. It was Father’s Day – people were supporting their dads and running for the charity.”

The event, which is organised by The Body Lounge Foundation, is in its fourth year. And over the last three years the event has raised £32,000 for the Stars Appeal’s Prostate Cancer Fund.

Steve Giles, of The Body Lounge Foundation, said: “We were just really pleased that there is so much local support for the event.

“We are looking forward to next year already.”

This year the race is in aid of the Stars Appeal MRI Scanner campaign.

Steve added: “The money is going to a great place and everything they do is worthwhile.”

Paralympic champion Mark Colbourne MBE was special guest and presented trophies to winners.
