PUPILS from Amesbury’s three primary schools placed statues of Mary and Joseph in their starting places for the town’s Advent pageant on Monday.
The two statues were made by Catherine Adeyeye from Cholderton and were blessed by the Bishop of Ramsbury, Stephen Conway.
Mary was then placed in Fox & Sons estate agents in Salisbury Street and the statue of Joseph was placed in the Eva hair salon at the top of the High Street.
They will be moved from one shop to the next every day until they meet at Café Mondo on Christmas Eve.
At 3.30pm, they will be processed through the town to St Mary & St Melor Church for a community Crib service.
Canon Simon Wilkinson said: “This will involve 600 children of primary school age in Amesbury, and every business in the town.
“We want to foster a sense of community during the days of Advent leading up to Christmas.”
