SALISBURY High School is achieving an international reputation for its teacher development.
Tadashi Asada, from Waseda University in Tokyo, and educational researcher Sarah Fletcher visited the school this week to find out how they approach teacher professional development.
Both were very impressed to hear about Salisbury High’s work in recent years with Bath University and Bath Spa University on developing their teachers, including running an in-house MA.
In Japan they do not have a system for teacher professional development and their research here will help to inform the development of a model for teacher development in Japan.
The timely visit coincides with an exhibition of Japanese art work produced by Salisbury High Students during their recent Activities Week. The artwork can be seen in Waterstones in the city centre until November 23.
