ACTOR Anthony Head and his partner, animal behaviour expert Sarah Fisher, will open the new Dogs Trust shop in Salisbury on December 12.
The invitation-only ceremony will be followed by a drop-in afternoon for the charity’s supporters.
Anthony, who plays Uther Pendragon in BBC TV’s Merlin, has had a host of leading roles but is perhaps best known as Rupert Giles in the US series Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Little Britain’s prime minister, and the man from the Gold Blend coffee adverts of the 1980s and early 90s.
He and Sarah, a regular on the ITV show This Morning, are both dog lovers and staunch supporters of the charity’s work.
They will stay on after the ceremony at the former Mole Hole shop in Crane Street, meeting well-wishers from 1pm.
Volunteer shop assistants and backroom helpers are still being sought, and will get a 50 per cent discount on merchandise.
Donations are also wanted and can be delivered direct to the shop, which will be open six days a week - from 9.30am to 6pm on Thursdays and 9.30am to 5pm on other days.
