SHREWTON Silver Band has qualified for the National Brass Band Finals in Harrogate for the fourth time in seven years.
The band competed at the regional contest in Torquay against 14 other bands in the second section.
Shrewton will now travel to Harrogate in September to compete against the other regional winners at The National Brass Band Finals.
The band will be joining Dinnington Colliery Band in Harrogate - subject of the BBC 2 programme on Monday nights, A Band for Britain - although Shrewton will be competing in a higher section.
As well as qualifying for the National Finals, the band has been promoted to the First Section nationally, for the first time in its history.
The British brass band movement, highlighted as struggling in the BBC 2 programme is highly successful and going from strength to strength in the Salisbury region.
Two other local bands, Downton Band and Test Valley Band, are also celebrating their success as they, too, qualified for the National Finals in Harrogate in the 4th and 3rd sections respectively.
