THERE was plenty to celebrate as St Joseph’s School held its annual prizegiving on Friday.
In his speech headteacher Paul Hughes said the school’s success as a humanities college is helping to drive up standards and was another measure of the progress St Joseph’s had made.
“The school is very well placed across a range of league tables measuring pupil progress and year on year improvement,” he said.
“Indeed the results are the best in the history of the school, but they are not in themselves the heart and soul of the school. When I think of the heart and soul of St Joseph’s many things come to mind; a school dedicated to continual improvement, a friendly and caring community, a skilled and enthusiastic staff, a supportive and committed governing body and a delightful and hard working group of young people.”
The prizes were given out by Salisbury MP John Glen and the first Catenian Cup for achievement was presented to Katherine Dart, who achieved the highest GCSE grades, by vice president of Salisbury Catenian Association Kevin Lynn.
