DINERS at pub in Burcombe got a surprise today when royalty dropped in for a spot of lunch.
Prince William came into the restaurant at The Ship Inn to eat - ordering a mushroom rarebit followed by a braised lamb shank with mash and cabbage - before going on to attend a friend’s wedding in Wilton.
With the prince were special branch officers, the groom and 15 ushers, who enjoyed a meal before going on to St Mary and St Nicholas Church to join the Duchess of Cambridge and other guests for the service.
A member of staff at the pub said: “There were range rovers driving up and down outside and then a member of special branch came in and a group of people obviously going to a wedding and I looked over and there he was.
“It wasn't what you expect to happen in Burcombe and they were all really nice. It was very exciting.”
