Schools wage war on waste

Schools wage war on waste Schools wage war on waste

TWO Salisbury schools are running a war on waste to reduce their rubbish and recycle more.

Sarum Academy and Woodlands Primary School are working with Wiltshire Wildlife Trust in a six-month programme to drive home the message that recycling really matters.

Woodlands held a Swap Shop on Wednesday, inviting children to bring in their unwanted items and swap them for new treasures.

The trust is running a series of events at the school, with last week seeing workshops to make animal masks out of recycled materials, creating mosaics out of discarded plastic, and weaving plastic bags to make pictures.

Meanwhile, a dance and fashion show is being planned at Sarum Academy as part of the national performing arts competition Rock Challenge.

The trust is helping students to design costumes made from rubbish for the show, to be held in February.
