POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man tried to steal a woman’s handbag.
The 22-year-old victim was walking along Bourne Hill at 5.50pm yesterday when the man grabbed hold of her bag and tried to pull it off her shoulder.
He was unsuccessful and ran away towards the Arts Centre.
The offender is described as scrawny, white, in his late teens or early twenties and 5ft 10ins tall. He was wearing a light coloured hoodie with the hood up over his head and a blue scarf that was covering his mouth and nose. He also wore dark trousers and light coloured shoes.
Officers believe he came from the direction of Estcourt Road and may have been with a female who was described as white, 5’7” tall, of average build and had light coloured hair tied in a pony tail. She was pushing a bike.
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Nick Bailey on 101 or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
