AN appeal to convert a garage and tack room into a two-bedroom house has been submitted after Wiltshire Council turned down the plans.
Leslie Martin Dunn wants to turn the garage, tack room and toilet building at The Stables in Hindon Road, Dinton, into a house so he and his family can be on site to tend to the horses they keep there.
But the council refused because the building would need a lot of work to make it habitable which it said would create a "visually harmful suburban structure, compared to the rural character of the current rustic wooden stable-block."
It also said the home would be remote from services, employment opportunities and unlikely to be well served by public transport, as well as raising concerns about a nearby railway.
Mr Dunn is appealing the council’s decision and a planning inspector will decide based on written statements and a site visit.
