MP raises concern over ambulance response times

GREAT Western Ambulance Service is set to face further scrutiny regarding response times.

Devizes MP Claire Perry, whose constituency includes Tidworth and Ludgershall, has asked for detailed information on ambulance response times in different parts of the county.

Her concern follows the death of 88-year-old Doreen Wignall of Ludgershall who slipped on ice and waited an hour and 45 minutes for an ambulance.

She died in hospital two days later.

“Many of my constituents, especially those living in the south-east part of the constituency in Tidworth and Ludgershall, are concerned that ambulance response times to these areas are slower than the norm,” said Mrs Perry.

“I have asked GWAS for response times by individual postcodes so that we can fully understand the situation and get on top of any systematic problems and this will be the first time we have been able to see this data.”

Wiltshire councillors have also launched an investigation into ambulance response times and want to know how often the service is missing its targets.

They will be meeting with GWAS bosses next month.
