CHILDREN in Wilton have finally have a dedicated facility where they can enjoy indoor and outdoor activities as a new youth centre officially opened on Monday.
The Wilton Development Centre for Young People at The Hollows provides a range of free activities for 13 to 19-year-olds and is open three evenings a week on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
It is run by Wiltshire Council’s youth development service and council leader Jane Scott joined local councillors and young people for the official opening.
Wiltshire Council and Wilton Town Council had been looking for a suitable location to provide a youth facility in the town for years and finally got planning permission for a building on a south east corner plot of Wilton Park School in February last year.
The two councils worked together to get the new centre up and running.
