A TEACHER from Salisbury has been arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a girl under the age of 16.
Tony Brown, 49, a chemistry teacher at Godolphin School was suspended from his post following accusations made to police and has since resigned from the school.
A police spokesman said: “A 49-year-old male teacher from Salisbury has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.
“The investigation relates to an isolated incident that took place away from school premises.”
Godolphin is a private day and boarding school catering for 430 girls aged from two to 18 years old.
Brown, who lives in Figheldean, has not been charged in relation to the incident and has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
