Carnival celebrations continue despite the rain

THE Queen's “rain” might have been a better way to describe Wilton's soggy carnival celebrations on Saturday.

Sodden soldiers, rain-soaked royalty and damp damsels took part in the parade and refused to let the atrocious weather stop the show.

Wellies and waterproofs became must-have carnival attire as people of all ages braved the elements to take part.

This year's theme was royalty and entries included Alice in Wonderland, the Royal Family and plenty of playing cards.

Music and singing from Streetz cheerleaders helped raise spirits although it was too wet for their pom poms.

There was also an appearance by The King himself, along with the town's royalty.

The procession was the culmination of a series of community events in Wilton.
