Buy a child a chance at Christmas
4:00pm Sunday 14th October 2012 in News By Hannah White
A SALISBURY charity that funds activities for disadvantaged children has launched a new gift idea for Christmas.
Childrens Chance Unwrapped is offering people looking for useful and unusual gifts the opportunity to buy a sporting or a performing chance for children who would not otherwise be able to afford it.
The idea is based on the Oxfam idea of giving a goat to an African village as a present.
The buyer will receive a special card saying what their gift will provide and will have the pleasure of knowing that a disadvantaged child will be able to enjoy sport, music or drama as a result of the gift.
Girls at Leaden Hall School were invited to take part in a competition to design the cards and the winners will be announced at a special prize giving at the school on October 19, when the gift initiative will be launched.
Jane Miller of Childrens Chance said: “The girls of Leaden Hall did a wonderful job designing the gift cards and we are excited at the prospect of giving sporting or performing chances as birthday of Christmas gifts.”
The gifts can be ordered and paid for online at childrenschance.co.uk from October 19.
